Pioneer Day Activity Ideas

Making Butter the way the Pioneers did:
I found this pin here:
Items Needed:
1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
a Clean Jar
a Pinch of Salt

Pour the cream into the jar and shake shake shake!!!!  About 20 minutes later, you will remove the Buttermilk from the jar and rinse the the butter with cold water.  Add a pinch of salt.  ENJOY!

Tin Punching:
Tin punching was used to make all kinds of things in the “olden” days…. I thought these lanterns would be both fun and economical to make!  This is the pin I used.
Items Needed:
Phillips screwdriver
Nails (various sizes if you would like)
Take off your label and fill your can with water.  Freeze overnight.  This will help keep your can’s shape when you are punching it!
The next morning, Draw your design on the backside of your label,  Tape to the can as a stencil.  Begin punching the nail through the can with a hammer.  You can also use the screwdriver for a more “star” look.

Happy Pioneer Day coming up, it is fun to remember the REASON we celebrate this fun day!
